How to Prefill Form Fields with Data from Another Form Using Form Prefill
MightyForms' Form Prefill feature allows you to seamlessly prepopulate your form fields with data from another form within your MightyForms account. It selects the main submission tab of your form as the source, where you can map the fields accordingly. This manual setup in the form saves time for users by automatically filling in data they previously submitted.
How to Set Up Form Prefill in the Form:
- In the MightyForms Form Builder, navigate to the Prefills tab.
- Click on the Form Prefill option.
- Select the form and map the fields from the selected form that you wish to prefill into your current form.
- Click on the "Add More" button if you wish to map more fields. Click on the "Save" button when you're done to save the mapping.
- Once fields are mapped, click on the "Add a New Prefill" button. This will open the selected form’s table.
- You have the option to choose individual submissions or select all from the submission tab. Each entry has a checkbox on the left side. After making your selections, proceed by clicking the "Create Prefill" button to generate the Prefilled URLs.
Note:
While you can select all submissions, you can only create 25 Prefilled URLs at a time. Therefore, selecting all and clicking the "Create Prefill" button will not work.
The Prefilled URLs are now created! Each of the Prefilled URLs is labeled based on the user’s name from the selected table.
Useful Tips:
- You can change the name of the prefill entry to your preferred label by clicking the three dots next to the prefill. We recommend renaming it with the name or email of the user.
- You can select all Prefilled URLs and send or delete them at once. Click "Select All" and then choose the desired action: "Send Invitation" or "Delete".
- When you click the "Send Invitation" button, a popup window will appear for entering the recipient’s email address for each prefilled URL. Optionally, you can add a message. Once ready, click the "Send Invitation" button at the bottom of the window.
- Note that you can only send an invitation to up to five (5) people at a time. Selecting more than this number will display an error message and the button to send the invitation will be grayed out.
On each Prefilled URL, clicking the 3-dot menu will allow you to do the following:
- Lock - allows you to password protect this prefill.
- Send Invite – if you wish to send the prefilled URL individually. It’s useful if the user lost the previous invitation.
- Copy URL – if you wish to send the prefilled URL manually.
- Rename – if you want to change the name of the Prefilled URL.
- Delete – to delete the prefilled URL.
If you want to add or remove the mapped fields, click on the "Settings" button to do so.
Form Prefill supports the following fields only:
- Input
- Number
- Phone
- Price
- URL
- Long Text
- Address
- Date/Time
- Dropdown
- Multiple Choice
- Icons Choice
- Single Choice
- Images Choice
- Rating
- Score
