Update fields with conditional logic rules

We offer Two Methods for Updating Fields with Conditional Logic Rules:


Manual Updates: MightyForms empowers you to update fields with manually predetermined data.

Customer Input Updates: Alternatively, you can update fields with information previously filled in by the customer.

Dynamically Updating Fields with Manual Entries

Step 1. Select your form


Login to your MightyForms dashboard, then:



Step 2. Set up a Rule


  1. Navigate to Rules via the left-side panel:

  2. In the "If" section - specify a condition when some of the fields in your form should be updated. Different field-types have their specific collection of conditions to set up.

  3. Move to "Then" section and pick Update in the Do dropdown.
  4. In the subsequent dropdown menu, select "Autofill".


  5. Choose the target field from your form that you want to pre-fill with specific data.
  6. Enter the value you wish to assign to the targeted field.

Example. Mark customers as returned to help your sales team better prepare for future communication.



Note: You can make the "Customer Type" field hidden so that it's only visible to your team after submission.



Automatically Pipe Previously Entered Information into Other Fields

Step 1. Select your form


Login to your MightyForms dashboard, then:



Step 2. Set up a Rule


  1. Navigate to Rules via the left-side panel:

  2. In the "If" section - specify a condition when some of the fields in your form should be updated. Different field-types have their specific collection of conditions to set up.

  3. Move to "Then" section and pick Update in the Do dropdown.
  4. In the subsequent dropdown menu, select "Copy value."

  5. Select the field filled with customer information from which you would like to autofill another form field.
  6. Finally, choose the field that you want to autofill with the completed information from the selected field above.


That's it! By following these steps, you can ensure a seamless form-filling experience for your users, reducing redundancy and enhancing efficiency. Now, when customers fill out the first field, they won't have to waste time filling out the second one, as it will already be populated with the information from the first field.
